UNDP and procurement

UNDP operates on the ground in 166 countries. Its annual programme delivery has been growing steadily since 2000 and reached  US$4.3 billion in 2006, of which US$2.5 billion were spent for goods and services.

You can learn more about UNDP procurement by clicking on the specific links on the left. This site is specifically designed to assist vendors who are looking for business opportunities with the UNDP. It displays information about our projects, our frequently procured goods and services and our procurement methods. Information on our current procurement notices and recently awarded contracts is equally available.

Committed to the environment

"Sustainable” or "Green" procurement is rooted in the principle of pollution prevention, which strives to eliminate or to reduce risks to human health and the environment. In order to do so, UNDP staff should evaluate purchases based on a variety of criteria, ranging from the necessity of the purchase, resource consumption, waste generation, environmental impact and health of the users.
