Pitfalls and Promise – Minerals Extractions in Afghanistan

The extractive industry can be an important source of human development, economic growth, government revenues and foreign investments. When well-managed, the sector provides possibility to create employment, build human capital, advance peoples mobility by improving infrastructure, and ultimately enhance the overall human development with a positive impact on poverty reduction efforts.

The NHDR 2020 “Pitfalls and Promise” focuses on strengthening the safety net of people through making state policies people centric and improve and promote sustainable livelihood among citizens.  The NHDR 2020 “Pitfalls and Promise” minerals extraction provides recommendations for further policy actions and more opportunities for Afghan-led human development interventions in managing the extractive industries sustainably.
