In recent times, global and regional forums have increasingly recognized Africa’s significance on the international stage. The G7 Hiroshima Summit 2023, for example, highlighted the importance of engaging the Global South, underscoring Africa’s growing prominence. Similarly, Japan has fostered enduring partnerships with Africa, exemplified by its leadership of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) since 1993, aimed at deepening cooperative ties.

As Africa is projected to comprise a quarter of the world’s population by 2050, fostering mutual understanding and strengthening cooperation between the youth of Japan and Africa becomes imperative for sustainable and harmonious global development.

Against this backdrop, the event will provide an opportunity to discuss Africa’s vast potential and challenges, explore possibilities for furthering Japan-Africa collaboration, and particularly examine the roles of youth and women as agents of change.

University students, high school and junior-high school students, and interested citizens are all welcome to attend.
