Defiant Progress critically examines the African Union’s two-decade journey toward Agenda 2063, assessing achievements and persistent challenges. Featuring expert contributions, it analyzes key continental shifts—demographic, ecological, geopolitical, socioeconomic and epidemiological—and their impact on development and security. The report evaluates the AU’s peace and security framework, responses to organized violence, and perceptions from citizens and civil society. It concludes with structural and sectoral recommendations to strengthen the AU’s role in fostering inclusive growth, sustainable development and stability across Africa.
