Driven by his passion for cybersecurity and a desire to make a difference, Victor is the Director and Founder of Secure Path, a cybersecurity consulting firm based in Nigeria. His firm aims to address the increasing rate of cyber-attacks in Africa by providing comprehensive cybersecurity solutions. Through Secure Path and the UNDP and Give1Project training, Victor has forged partnerships with cybersecurity firms in Kenya and Canada, expanding his reach and impact globally. One of Victor’s key initiatives is to train “ethical hackers” who can identify vulnerabilities in organizations’ systems and help improve their cybersecurity posture. He believes that by empowering young people with these skills, Africa can become a safer digital environment and mitigate the risks posed by cyber threats.
“We can make Africa a better place by protecting our data and ethical hacking can protect organizations, countries, and government entities. We, the youth, need to buy into this idea of hacking for good instead of hacking for bad.” Globally cyber-attack rates have increased by 15% with an average cost of $14.43 million to mitigate the attack. The main purpose of Secure Path is to enlighten people in Africa and across the globe on the need for them to stay safe and aware of the way threat actors attack them and their companies. Beyond his professional endeavors, Victor is deeply committed to humanitarian causes. He has a strong desire to eradicate poverty and unemployment, drawing from his own experience of facing unemployment after completing his Bachelor’s. This drive led him to explore product management and eventually transition into cybersecurity.
“My passion is the love for humanity. I myself have face unemployment after graduating and that inspired me to use my platform to help eradicate poverty and unemployment”
Hailing from Enugu state in Nigeria, Victor understands the challenges faced by young people in his community and has built Secure Path as a platform to empower them with the skills needed for a career in cybersecurity. He believes that cybersecurity is crucial in today’s digital world, where sensitive information is vulnerable to exploitation.
Victor’s participation in the UNDP and Give1Project training programme has been transformative. It has equipped him with the skills to handle chaotic situations in cybersecurity, enabling him to lead his team effectively during crises. He emphasizes the importance of handson experience and practical learning in cybersecurity education, highlighting the value of initiatives like the UNDP and Give1Project programme. “My mindset has changed in the way I approach a breach. I now know how to compose myself and my team and the right approach to use in order to mitigate threats.”
