The High Level Regional Dialogue on Strengthening Public Finance Systems in Africa, under the Theme "Modernizing accountability and transparency in Public Finance Systems for sustainable development in Africa," seeks to create a platform for policy and strategic level review of existing mechanisms for accountability and transparency in public finance systems in Africa. The COVID-19 pandemic, in particular, has highlighted both the vulnerabilities and the resilience of existing PFM arrangements, prompting many countries to reassess their approaches to emergency financial management. Looking ahead, the future of PFM in Africa points toward greater digitalization, enhanced transparency, and improved accountability mechanisms.
