The UNDP's resident representative in Angola, Denise António, speaking to Jornal de Angola, said that by celebrating another year of the United Nations, the institution was reaffirming its shared commitment to peace, development and respect for humanity.
United Nations Day, celebrated every year, she said, offers the opportunity to broaden the common agenda and reaffirm the objectives and principles of the United Nations Charter, which have guided us for the last 79 years.
‘Here in Angola, together with our partners, the government, the private sector, development partners, sister UN agencies, civil society and communities, we are working to face the challenges and embrace the opportunities for a more promising and sustainable future,’ she said.

With six years to the 2030 deadline for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Denise António added, the need for collective global action is more critical than ever.
‘This requires an inclusive, interconnected and effective multilateralism that promotes collaboration between nations to solve common problems,’ she emphasised, explaining that the UNDP works in 170 countries and territories to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities and create resilience for sustainable development.
In Angola, in collaboration with the government and local partners, efforts are being made to meet the challenges.
