Document Summary

Yemen is one of the poorest countries in the Arab region. It faces a host of challenges, including a high rate of population growth, a low rate of economic growth, high unemployment, widespread poverty, weak governance and rapidly depleting water and oil reserves.

To address these issues, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has successfully implemented numerous initiatives in Yemen that work to promote democratic governance, pro-poor economic growth and environmentally sustainable development.
