Gender, Business and Human Rights

A resource hub to support the integration of gender into business

Gender, business and human rights

Achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls are essential to sustainable development. Yet, women and members of the LGBTI community continue to encounter significant barriers to equality. They face business-related human rights abuses in distinct and often disproportionate ways, experiencing multiple forms of discrimination. Additionally, they often encounter heightened challenges in accessing effective remedies for such abuses.

Businesses have a critical role to play in combating the marginalization and discrimination faced by women, girls, and LGBTI individuals.

This portal consolidates key resources and insights from UNDP and its partners, designed to support businesses, governments, civil society, and other stakeholders in addressing the structural discrimination and gender-based violence that limit the rights of women and LGBTI individuals. The resources provided promote women's empowerment and aim to foster gender equality across workplaces, marketplaces, and communities.

Together with our partners, UNDP offers training programs to help companies integrate a gender perspective into their operations. These courses equip participants with the tools to develop strategies and evaluate their practices in line with international standards on gender, women's and LGBTI rights.
