On 4-5 October 2023, the inaugural Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Rights in Asia (CSERA) conference was held in Bangkok, Thailand. The conference explored efforts undertaken so far by states and business to address Asia’s environmental priorities. Sessions facilitated learning and dialogue around biodiversity impacts and disclosure, decarbonization strategies and carbon markets, and ESG reporting.
The conference brought together nearly 300 participants including business leaders, investors, policy makers, academics, and civil society champions to exchange views on the role of businesses and governments in supporting and strengthening the newly recognized right to a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment. The event was co-organized by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and in partnership with European Union, and the Government of Sweden.
The CSERA 2023 Conference Report captures key recommendations for business, government and civil society action identified in each session. For more information about the conference and to watch session recordings, visit the conference website.
