This publication presents the findings of a baseline and benchmarking assessment of healthcare waste management (HCWM) systems in Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Maldives, commissioned by the UNDP HIV and Health Group at the Bangkok Regional Hub. The assessment follows the Gavi HCWM Maturity Model, focusing on key areas such as awareness, training and supportive supervision; adherence and compliance; national policy and strategic plans; budgeting and planning; practical guidance; and availability and use of technology and equipment. Using country-specific data and key informant interviews, the report analyzes HCWM practices and adherence to international guidelines. It offers country-specific and regional recommendations for strengthening HCWM systems across the three countries.
