Being LGBT in Asia: Thailand Country Report
August 6, 2015
Being LGBT in Asia: Thailand Country Report provides an overview of LGBT rights in Thailand including prevailing laws and policies; social and cultural attitudes; religion; employment and housing; education and young people; health and well being; media including Information Communication Technology; and the capacity of LGBT organizations.
The report is based on research, consultations, and the National LGBT Community Dialogue that was held at the United Nations Convention Centre in Bangkok in March 2013. Case studies highlighting success and challenges are included in the relevant sections. The organizational development and capacity of LGBT organizations is also discussed in a later section and is based on an analysis of a participant survey which was part of the National Dialogue.
The Thailand country report contains findings and recommendations provided by the participants at the Dialogue. The annexes at the end list LGBT organizations in Thailand and the glossary of commonly used local terms that refer to LGBT people.
