Baku, 15 May 2020 –  With the financial support of the European Union, the United Nations Development Programme and the State Agency on Vocational Education joined forces with the Junior Achievement Azerbaijan Public Union to organize a series of online career training and guidance for students of vocational education schools in Azerbaijan.

The training programme covered several topics from career planning to designing personal development plans to job search techniques and interview preparations.

Carried out by the expert of Junior Achievement Azerbaijan, this two-weeks training programme created an opportunity for VET students to gain a better understanding and ideas about the future of work. The online training sessions were attended by more than 100 students and teachers of Ganja State Vocational Education Centre on Industry and Technology and Jalilabad State Vocational Education Centre.

The programme was organized as part of the “Establishment of Regional Vocational Education and Training Centre of Excellence in the Lankaran Economic Region” and the “Support to the establishment of Regional Industrial Vocational Education and Training (VET) Competence Centre in Ganja” projects, funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP in partnership with the State Agency on Vocational Education, both aiming to help modernise Azerbaijan’s vocational education system.

In times of COVID19, the projects have helped produce a series of TV lessons, online courses and career sessions to ensure that students do not miss out on classes and stay actively engaged.

The online career programme will continue.
