The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the Japanese government, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, Ministry of Science and Education and the executive power of Barda organized the opening ceremony within the “Energy Efficiency in Public and Apartment Buildings outside of Capital area in Azerbaijan” project.

The Project implemented by the United Nations Development Programme with the financial support of the Japanese government has reconstructed the centralized heating system and hot water supply, installed the outdoor lighting system through solar electric systems, as well as installed energy-efficient windows and classroom doors in the secondary school located in Mollalı village in Barda and the residential building located in Barda city since May 2022.

The opening event of the secondary school brought together Japanese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Junichi Wada, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan Rauf Hajiyev, Head of the Karabakh Regional Education Department Gunduz Abdulov and Deputy Head of the Executive Authority of Barda rayon Ilham Mammadov.

As a part of the event, the senior officials took part in the tree-planting activity, observed boiler room installed in the territory of the secondary school, familiarized with the works performed inside the secondary school building. The Opening Ceremony commenced with an official inauguration ceremony, followed by speeches from esteemed guests, school administration, and community representatives, and school children performances. 

At the event, officials presented gifts and certificates to the winners and participants of the "How well I know Japan?"-titled drawing contest organized under the project.
