Educational Visit of Belarusian Specialists in Digital Metrology
November 4, 2024
From October 28 to November 1, Belarusian specialists in digital metrology — an emerging field in vocational education — participated in a training program in Moscow.
Digital metrologists play a crucial role in modern manufacturing, ensuring product quality through advanced digital technologies that deliver unparalleled measurement accuracy.
According to UNDP's research on emerging professions in agriculture, construction, and mechanical engineering, digital metrology specialists are among the most sought-after professionals by Belarusian enterprises.
Training for this new profession has already commenced at the College of Modern Technologies in Mechanical Engineering and Car Service, a branch of the Republican Institute of Vocational Education. In 2024, the college welcomed its first cohort for the Operation of Measuring Instruments program and established a Digital Metrology Laboratory within its Competence Centre.
The Laboratory is currently being outfitted with advanced control and measuring machines, which young specialists will encounter in industry, such as a contourograph, circle gauge, altimeter, and 3D scanner.
During the educational visit, educators and administrators from the College of Modern Technologies in Mechanical Engineering and Car Service and Gomel State Automechanic College perfected their skills in using the new equipment and familiarized themselves with development trends in digital metrology.
The Digital Metrology Laboratory equipment and the educational visit are supported within the The Developing Youth Innovation Potential for Accelerated Sustainable Development in Belarus project implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Belarus in partnership with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and Republican Institute of Professional Education funded by the Russian Federation through the Russian Federation - UNDP Trust Fund for Development.
