Berend de Groot, Head of the EU Cooperation Program for the Republic of Belarus, and Dmitry Matusevich, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Belarus, visited Molodechno on August 6, 2019.
Molodechno is one of the twelve pilot regions of the Project “Support to Economic Development at the Local Level in the Republic of Belarus” which is funded by the European Union and being implemented by the UN Development Programme.
The two guests and representatives of the local executive authorities discussed opportunities and tools for local economic development in Molodechno district and ways to develop an entrepreneurial initiative with the support of the Project. The guests then visited ENEF company and the Golden Cow farm.
ENEF, open Joint Stock Company produces lighting engineering equipment for domestic market and for export and offers warranty technical support for the equipment in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9001 international quality system. The company employs 230 people from Molodechno, including people with disabilities.
The Golden Cow farm is located in a small agricultural town near Molodechno. There a three-generation family keeps 17 pedigree cows and produces various dairy products, such as milk, sour cream, cream, cottage cheese, cheese, butter and hand-made bread. The cows are of the Ayshire breed and the Jersey breed. To put it simply, these breeds can be compared to Mercedes and BMW in the automotive industry -- they are the highest class of the breeding dairy cows.
Both enterprises are great examples of successful entrepreneurship initiatives in Molodechno district. Industrial production and organic agriculture, energy-saving products and mini-bakeries, expansion of existing enterprises and diversification - all these shows that a strong entrepreneurial initiative is present in Molodechno district.
