Transport sector in Bhutan is identified as the primary source of GHG emission in the energy group. Within the energy group, transport activities was responsible for more than 60 percent emission. This is likely to increase to 1.25 million metric tonnes CO2e by 2050 under a business as usual scenario. Hence, the need to draw suitable strategy to control emission has been recognised globally to address global rise in temperature.
