Project Board meeting of the “Environmentally Sound Management of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) in industrial and hazardous waste sectors" project, which is funded by the Swedish Embassy and implemented by UNDP, was held today in Sarajevo.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, the RS Ministry of Spatial Planning, Civil Engineering and Ecology, the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the Swedish Embassy and the UNDP.
The focus of component 4 of this five-year project is the management and disposal of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and persistent organic pollutants from abandoned industrial complexes.
Considering the very serious situation with the pyralen in the area of the Business zone "Incel", on the initiative of Minister Golic, today all Project Board members agreed to allocate funds from this component in the amount of 600,000 USD to the implementation of activities in the first two years of the project, instead to be implemented over four years, as originally planned by the project document.
The amount of $ 600,000 is total for the Republika Srpska and for the Federation of BiH, and will be allocated in the amount of up to $ 300,000 for each entity to locations identified as priority.
