Interactive Solar Atlas (ISA) is the first publicly available tool that provides all the necessary information about the solar potential in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was developed within the project "Accelerating Clean Energy Transition Through Utilization of Solar Energy Potential in BiH - SolarCET", which is implemented by UNDP in BiH and funded by the Ministry of Finance of Slovakia.

ISA was officially handed over by UNDP to the Independent System Operator (NOS) in BiH at an event held today in the UN House in Sarajevo.

Raduška Cupać, Energy and Environment Sector Leader at UNDP in BiH, thanked Slovakia for the financially supporting this project and NOS for recognizing the importance of ISA. She explained that the purpose of ISA is to facilitate the transition to renewable energy sources for the citizens of BiH, ultimately contributing to reducing the use of fossil fuels and building a sustainable, more environmentally friendly future.

This solar atlas, as a web platform, is an important tool with data that can be updated according to current changes in the field of solar energy. This is also a key step in creating a positive environment for investments in solar energy in BiH.

The General Director of NOS, Nemanja Pandurević, stated on that occasion: "Bosnia and Herzegovina has undertaken obligations by signing the Paris Agreement and the Sofia Declaration, as well as the Treaty on the Establishment of the Energy Community. NOS is working to fulfill the set goals, and through the National Energy and Climate Plans until 203O, we have set ambitious goals to reverse the relationship between thermal power plants and solar energy in favor of solar energy. ISA will truly help us with that, and therefore it will be well received by NOS BiH!”

ISA aims to motivate citizens, owners of private and public facilities to use solar panels and collectors for the production of renewable energy, as a measure to support the transition to clean energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Patrik Turošík, Chargé d'affaires, a.i. of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic, also emphasized the importance of this extremely useful tool, thanks to which BiH has made a step towards a sustainable future. "On behalf of the Slovak Republic, we are very proud to support this project and hope that the Interactive Solar Atlas will lead to making the right decisions and wise investments in renewable energy sources," added Turošík.

In addition to this important tool, SolarCET has also cooperated with local self-government units to develop financial mechanisms and subsidize the installation of solar systems in over 60 individual households in Mostar, Cazin, Gradiška and Prijedor.
