UNDP Statement Regarding Allegations Against Tarik Zaimović

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina wishes to address and unequivocally deny the recent allegations regarding Mr. Tarik Zaimović published in this article: Tarik Zaimović otjeran i iz UNDP-a: Radikal naumio da bude rektor?!(link is external). These allegations falsely claim that Mr. Zaimović was dismissed from his position due to “radical views and statements“.

Mr. Zaimović was a valued and high-performing manager at UNDP. During his tenure, he significantly contributed to our efforts, in collaboration with various partners, to lay the foundations for the development of an information society in Bosnia and Herzegovina. His work contributed to forwarding UNDP’s mission and goals in the region, and his dedication and professionalism were consistently evident.

Mr. Zaimović's departure from UNDP was entirely amicable. He chose to pursue a full-time academic career, and his decision to leave was a personal one, based on his professional aspirations. We categorically state that his departure was in no way related to any radical views or statements.

Furthermore, we extend our congratulations to Mr. Zaimović on his new role as the Rector of the University of Sarajevo. We have no doubt that he will bring the same level of dedication and excellence to his new position as he did during his time with UNDP.

UNDP remains committed to our principles of transparency, integrity, and mutual respect. We stand by Mr. Zaimović's contributions and achievements during his time with us and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
