On the heels of his induction as UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, Mr. Alain Noudehou travelled to Shanghai to welcome the UN Secretary-General Mr. Ban Ki-moon’s arrival in China.

Busy itineraries for the party included high-level meetings with Chinese and foreign officials. Accompanying the Secretary-General’s delegation, Mr. Noudehou greeted Chinese President Xi Jinping and met with Chinese Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Wang Yi for the second time in as many weeks.

The party then flew to Beijing, whereupon Mr. Noudehou joined the Secretary-General during his meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. The delegation’s one-day stay in Beijing was capped off by a tour of Xinhua News Agency headquarters, personally hosted by Xinhua president Li Congjun.

The Secretary-General’s party immediately returned to Shanghai the following day for the Fourth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), which convened 11 Heads of State and delegations from 40 countries and international organizations. Mr. Noudehou again participated in the Secretary-General’s delegation, which received various state leaders, and attended key meetings supporting UN and UNDP initiatives.
