Youth organizations driving change through the Youth Leadership program.
September 8, 2021
Five youth-serving organizations with the support of UNDP and the Arab Youth Center
are launching Youth Leadership Program activities in different regions of the country to promote the development of their regions and communities.
The Youth Leadership Programme YLP, provides young people with tools to develop innovative solutions to real-life challenges and advance the 2030 Agenda and its 17 goals. Sponsored and in partnership with the Arab Youth Center, the program offers young people a unique platform to develop their skills and support innovation and creativity.
This year, the Youth Leadership Programme (YLP7) encourages youth-serving organizations to become real actors of change. Within this framework, UNDP Djibouti is working closely with five organizations that cover the entire territory of Djibouti: Good planet Africa (GPA) in Djibouti, the Network of Associations of Randa (RAR) in Tadjourah, the Club of Young Entrepreneurs (CJED) with offices in all regions of Djibouti, Femme TIC in Djibouti and the Association for the Protection and Safeguarding of the Environment of the Region of Ali-Sabieh (A. P.S.E.R.A.S).
The YLP provides the associations with a year-long orientation on how to achieve the goals each association has set for itself to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. After undergoing training at the regional level, the four associations launch their activities from September to December. These activities are organized around four axes: entrepreneurship, policy makers, community builders and job seekers.
The Club des jeunes entrepreneurs (CJED) will train young entrepreneurs in developing a business plan to present to potential investors or banks.
The Network of Associations of Randa (RAR) is committed to helping young people to have access to reading material in public places.
women TIC wishes to identify and educate young people and parents on the dangers of social media and the parameters available to limit the dangers.
The Association for the Protection and Safeguard of the Environment in the Ali Sabieh Region (APSERAS), wants to empower local residents to recognize the signs and causes of drought and to establish a peer-to-peer agricultural support mechanism between the Ali Sabieh City Agricultural Cooperative and farmers in Danan.
Good Planet Africa would like to expand the Youth Leadership Program's footprint among Djibouti's youth and raise awareness of the Agenda 2030 sustainable development goals.
