Solutions Mapping courses

In September 2023, the UNDP Colombia Country Office had the privilege to host Professor Anamika R Dey, and Professor Anil Gupta, whom led a six-day Solutions Mapping course. During this course, key concepts such as autonomy, agency, collective intelligence, cross-fertilization, value addition, intellectual property innovation, social needs identification, resilience, regeneration, scouting and documentation, were thoroughly introduced and analyzed. These concepts were explored through the lens of the UNDP Acceleration Labs methodology, aiming to enhance participants' skills and expertise in this area.
The process involved the identification and analysis of grassroots innovations, which initiate a new sort of relationship between communities, UNDP and development actors. The recognition of grassroots innovations allows for a balanced assessment of the current diagnostic approach, considering community assets, processes, existing capacities and solutions to leverage development interventions to overcome traditional approaches that focused on identifying needs.
By acquiring knowledge from grassroots innovations, innovators and movements through a continuous, structured and shared solution mapping practice, new critical insights can be incorporated into our portfolio of experiments and projects, where those actors can be considered as development providers.
