Cross-fertilization of Local Knowledge

21 de Octubre de 2024

The Experience of the Workshop "Native Plants: Flora of Concepcion".

A biologist, a museologist, a lifeguard, and a park ranger, among many others, came together to share knowledge and experiences about native plants, resulting in an enriching conversation and several action plans to promote their use and propagation. In these and other topics, communities can provide valuable insights into their environments, their elements, and the events that occur there, which are key to enhancing knowledge through peer exchange and strengthening their ability to face possible adversities and unforeseen events, such as climate phenomena.

In this report, titled "Cross-Fertilization of  Local Knowledge," we share the experience of the "Nativa: Flora de Concepción" workshop, a collaborative initiative between the UNDP Co_Lab, the ACC Río Uruguay project, and the Municipality of Concepción del Uruguay. The workshop focused on the value of native plants and their role in adapting to climate change. Through various facilitation tools and collective intelligence methods, the workshop encouraged conversations that allowed local knowledge to emerge and be shared.

Here, you’ll see how participants from diverse sectors exchanged knowledge, developed concrete actions to preserve native flora, and strengthened community resilience in the face of environmental challenges.
