The WSIS+20 Forum High-Level Event 2024 is a platform for multi-stakeholder discussions with the objective to take stock of the achievements and key trends, challenges and opportunities since the Geneva Plan of Action in 2003. The WSIS+20 Forum High-Level Event 2024 is scheduled to be held from 27 to 31 May 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland, and is co-organized by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP and UNCTAD and co-hosted by ITU and the Swiss Confederation.
This year at the WSIS+20 Forum, the UNDP is presenting at the following events:
1. The WSIS Welcome Part I: Meet the Movers Behind It! on 27 May 2024:
In this special session, the masterminds behind the WSIS+20 Forum High-Level Event will share insights, visions, and the collaborative spirit driving global digital transformation. The event will shed light on how WSIS continues to evolve, unite diverse voices, and catalyze impactful initiatives worldwide.
2. Harnessing AI for Sustainable Development Goals in the Arab Region on 29 May, 2024
The Arab Region has witnessed significant technological transformation and innovation over the past decade. However, the internal conditions of the Arab nations vary, influencing their ambitions to incorporate technological advancements, particularly AI, into their policies, strategies, and institutions. This session will introduce the groundbreaking initiatives by the UNDP that are propelling digital transformation across the Arab Region by presenting case studies from Egypt, showcasing how AI is being harnessed to fast-track the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The session will also highlight the common challenges facing the adoption of AI in the Arab region and discuss the opportunities and a roadmap for the advancement and utilization of AI in the Arab region to accelerate the achievement of SDGs.
