UNDP welcomes and supports the Global Fund’s Eighth Replenishment Investment Case(link is external). Sustained investment will save an additional 23 million lives and prevent 400 million new HIV, TB and malaria infections between 2027-2029, strengthening health and community systems to prevent and contain new disease outbreaks and pandemics.

Since its founding in 2002, the Global Fund has saved 65 million lives and helped reduce the combined death rate from HIV, TB and malaria by 63 percent worldwide. UNDP contributes to these results as a longstanding partner. In 2024 alone, UNDP’s support to national governments and civil society provided life-saving treatment for 1.7 million people with HIV, successfully treated 110,000 people with TB and distributed 14.4 million mosquito nets to prevent malaria, all in some of the most challenging operating environments.

Our results with the Global Fund demonstrate the power of partnership and multilateralism to reach the shared goals of ending HIV, TB and malaria, achieving universal health coverage and leaving no one behind. Yet in the face of multiple cascading crises, gains against HIV, TB and malaria are under threat. Bold investment is now needed to protect progress made, advance efforts against the three diseases and secure national health systems to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and leave no one behind by 2030.

UNDP remains committed to the shared vision of the Global Fund partnership and joins the call for a US$18 billion investment to stop at nothing to finish the job in the fight against the HIV, TB and malaria epidemics and achieve a more equitable, healthy and sustainable future for everyone.
