The National Commission for Human Rights with support from UNDP carried out an awareness campaign (Djumbai) on land law and regulation. The aim of the campaigns, which were held in all regions of Guinea-Bissau, was to sensitize the population on the issues of ownership, use, and exploitation of land by creating at the community levels, local land management structures in accordance with legal provisions.
To disseminate the land law and its regulation throughout the regions of the country, taking into account disputes over land tenure, ownership, human rights, and access to justice, comes from events that occurred in the country recently, which has claimed several lives and caused serious bodily injuries.
These campaigns were informative, interactive, and participatory in character, allowing for the collection of concerns, reflections, and recommendations in all the regions visited.
