UNDP and UNICEF supported the Government of Guinea-Bissau, through the State Secretariat for Regional Planning and Integration, in organizing the training workshop for national technicians on the calculation of the “Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI)” and “Multiple Overlapping Deprivation Analysis (MODA)”. The workshop, which was facilitated by an international consultant, is part of the ongoing analysis studies on multidimensional poverty in Guinea-Bissau, based on MICS6 data from 2018-2019.
The workshop took place from 22 to 30 March 2021 in São Domingos, Cacheu Region, in Northern Guinea-Bissau. The event had about two dozen participants from different public entities, among others, the Directorate General of the Plan - organizer of the workshop and the National Institute of Statistics (INE), both from the State Secretariat of Planning and Regional Integration, the Ministry Education, and the National Institute of Public Health.
In the same framework, regional consultations are expected to continue shortly (probably in the week of the 12th to the 16th of April this year) in the Provinces (including the Cacheu and Oio Regions; Bafatá and Gabu; Bolama and Tombali, Quinara).
