Enabling Gender-Responsive Disaster Recovery, Climate and Environmental Resilience in the Caribbean (EnGenDER)

The EnGenDER project aims to guarantee that men, women, boys, and girls in nine Caribbean countries (Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Suriname) have equal access to disaster risk reduction (DRR), climate change adaptation, and environmental management frameworks and interventions.

The project also aims to identify and close some of the gaps in these areas while aligning with several national priorities in Guyana.

  • Advance the gender-responsive implementation of National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) at the sector level according to national priorities, focusing on sectors that have the greatest beneficial impact on women and girls.

  •  Support representation of the needs and perspectives of the most vulnerable populations in cross-sectoral, inclusive governance and national climate change planning.

  • Build government capacity for gender-responsive inter-sectoral access to climate finance, through innovative solutions.

  • Building on the work of other partners at the national level to assist countries develop/strengthening gender-responsive and inclusive national recovery mechanisms and plans.
