Strengthening and Modernisation of the Public Prosecution Office in Guyana
The second phase of the project aims to enhance the internal operations of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) through the introduction of a comprehensive reporting dashboard and a case assignment system, harnessing the power of digital technology. By streamlining workflows and improving collaboration, the DPP will benefit from increased efficiency, transparency, accuracy, and timeliness in its operations. This digital transformation will support both in-person and remote work, leading to more effective outcomes in the pursuit of justice.
The scope of work includes:
Development of a Case Assignment System
A case assignment system will be created to enable senior staff members of the DPP to open, view, assign, and reassign cases and case files to junior prosecutors. Once a case is assigned, junior prosecutors will have the ability to view and edit case files, upload digital documents necessary for legal advice, and submit draft documents for approval by senior staff. The system will standardise communication between prosecutors, digitise and track the DPP’s internal processes, and integrate all open cases into the existing e-filing system.
Development of a Comprehensive Dashboard
A comprehensive dashboard will be developed for the DPP and team, providing real-time access to updated data on case statuses, demographics of victims and accused persons, geographical information, types of crimes, weapons used, and any other relevant data entered into the system by users. This dashboard will enable the DPP’s leadership to make informed decisions based on accurate, up-to-date information, improving overall case management and operational efficiency.
This initiative represents a significant leap forward in modernising the DPP’s operations, improving its capacity to deliver justice in a more timely and effective manner.
