Georgetown, Guyana – November 4, 2024 – The survey for the Digital Readiness Assessment (DRA) was launched on November 1st as part of a collaboration between the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The results of this assessment will provide key insights and recommendations that will allow the Government to understand the needs and readiness of Guyanese communities in the digital era.

Following a participatory approach, ICT experts and representatives including from the National Data Management Authority, public and private sectors and civil society organisations, attended a virtual information-gathering workshop. This collaborative effort aimed to share diverse perspectives and inform the analysis of the country’s digital strengths and weaknesses. The results from this session will be incorporated into a report and will facilitate the identification of existing gaps and opportunities for digital transformation, providing key insights for the Government of Guyana as it advances the country’s digital agenda.
The DRA is guided by UNDP's Chief Digital Office and provides an overview of national digital readiness across six pillars - connectivity, government, regulation, business, digital public infrastructure, and people - for a whole-of-society analysis with the goal of contributing to an inclusive digital transformation in which no one is left behind and all parts of society can benefit from digital solutions and technologies.
This assessment is a crucial component of a broader public policy approach by the Government of Guyana and will support the ongoing efforts in digitising processes and integrating technology in social and economic sustainable development. Expected positive outcomes after the DRA Report include enhanced transparency, reduced bureaucratic delays, streamlined operations, and improved access to e-government services. Additionally, the insights gathered will contribute to current investments in digital infrastructure development and capacity building.
