This compendium of best practices in wildlife conservation from India has been created by selecting 20 best of the best cases from among the winners and special mention cases of the India Biodiversity Awards (2012 -2018); a pioneering initiative of the Government of India in partnership with UNDP, that has captured over 600 nature-based solutions initiated by communities, industries and local governments, towards protection of wildlife and conservation of biological resources. It conforms to the objectives of the Global Wildlife Programme (GWP), to promote wildlife conservation and sustainable development by combating illicit trafficking in wildlife, protect species and habitats through integrated landscape planning and facilitate knowledge exchange.
