Special Message from Hon'ble Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Shri JP Nadda I Inspiring India

March 10, 2025

Ten years ago, India began deploying indigenously developed digital health technologies to enhance the efficiency of its vaccine supply chain. These innovations ensured that life-saving vaccines reached every health center, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, protecting the lives of millions of newborns.

The electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (VIN) marked the beginning of this journey. Over the past decade, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in collaboration with partners like the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has expanded digital health systems across various public health domains.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, India rolled out Co-WIN, the technological backbone of its massive vaccination program. This platform not only helped curb the spread of the virus but also played a pivotal role in bringing the country back to normalcy.

Recently, India launched U-WIN (Universal Immunization WIN), a transformative platform designed to streamline the nation's expansive immunization program, ensuring that no child is left behind from receiving life-saving vaccines.

Innovation and India go hand in hand. From groundbreaking advancements in space exploration through our Lunar and Solar missions to the development of UPI, a digital payment system, India continues to lead in creating technologies that transform societies.

I am confident that UNDP's magazine, Inspiring India, will bring the remarkable stories of Indian innovations to the global stage, highlighting our strides in technology and progress.
