Natural Disaster Risk Reduction
UNDP works with United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM) to provide necessary capacity-building and technical assistance. UNDP exploits its experience and resources to pilot concrete examples of how the links between improved natural resource management and disaster risk management can be made in planning and practice and on how new innovations and technologies can be adapted to the national context to improve disaster risk mitigation, preparedness, and recovery. This is being done in close coordination with the Government while considering the geographical diversity of the country and its corresponding mix of hazards and disaster risks, in recognition of the fact that in this situation there can be no one-fits-all solutions.
