Social Protection and Inclusive Growth:
Eradicating Poverty and Inequality is at the center of UNDP’s work. UNDP has played an important role in supporting Iran to mainstream the concepts of Human Development and Multi-dimensional poverty as opposed to measuring poverty only based on economic indicators.

Our Poverty and Inequality work in Iran is focused on two (2) pillars: Protective approach (social protection) and Promotive approach (inclusive growth).
UNDP supports the design and implementation of schemes and models incentivizing environment-friendly employment generation, especially in micro, small, and medium enterprises and cooperatives, while ensuring that the population in vulnerable situations have access to the technology skills and know-how to enable their access to emerging employment opportunities. Particular attention is be paid to support the Government in facilitating access of the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran, especially female heads of households and rural women as well as young people to appropriate training, skills building, business development support, and digital banking. Digital solutions and access is prioritized for all supports, in line with national priorities, policies and regulations of the country.
