On the frontlines of the global effort to end poverty
A two-week public information campaign has been launched by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) country office in Jamaica to highlight UNDP’s mission, work and results on the forefront of global efforts to end poverty.
The Jamaica office has launched its local public information campaign to highlight UNDP’s distinct focus within the world of development, at a time when UNDP offices around the world are rolling out the recently developed Next Generation UNDP strategy.
The campaign, dubbed #ThisIsUNDPInJamaica will underscore UNDP’s mission to help countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals with poverty eradication as its highest priority through a package of six Signature Solutions.
The Signature Solutions, touching on energy, gender, the environment, governance and keeping people out of poverty, can be tailored to countries’ realities and priorities. The soltuions are:
- Signature Solution 1: Keep people out of poverty
- Signature Solution 2: Strengthen effective, accountable and inclusive governance
- Signature Solution 3: Enhance prevention and recovery for resilient societies
- Signature Solution 4: Promote nature-based solutions for a sustainable planet
- Signature Solution 5: Close the energy gap
- Signature Solution 6: Strengthen Gender Equality
The Signature Solutions are designed to help countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals as a means of eliminating poverty in all forms everywhere. As it operationalizes its mission, UNDP works to ensure "empowered lives, resilient nations".
The campaign talks to partners and beneficiaries of current projects which are typical of the Signature Solutions, highlighting the work being done and the impact being recorded.
The two-week campaign includes a feature video, social media posts, brochure, booklet, short explainer and interview videos covering different facets of UNDP’s work in Jamaica. The feature video is scheduled to be broadcast on the nation’s number one morning show, Smile Jamaica on the Television Jamaica network on Wednesday, 5 December at 6:40 a.m., and will thereafter graduate to social media platforms over two weeks.
