UNDP Annual Report: "Empowering people, Building resilience"
UNDP Annual Report: "Empowering people, Building resilience"
June 24, 2016
Kazakhstan has made remarkable achievements over the past five years. Ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, promotion of reforms in its civil service, becoming a donor country and the introduction of innovative energy-efficiency practices are just a few of them. It has been a great privilege for the United Nations Development Programme to work alongside the Government of Kazakhstan in promoting these and many other initiatives and sharing its expertise to support the country in its development priorities.
This Annual Report captures a collection of success stories over the period 2010 to 2015, UNDP’s Country Programme Document cycle. It contains a series of stories on a wide range of themes: a woman who challenged the status quo and became one of the first female entrepreneurs in East Kazakhstan Region; creating green jobs around protected areas; empowering people to design local development solutions; and establishing the national Official Development Assistance system. In this report, we let people who have benefited from our programmes tell their stories and share their views on what difference this work has made to the quality of their lives and the well-being of their families
