Harnessing the Demographic Dividend Through Youth Engagement in Kenya
In commemoration of International Youth Day (IYD) 2025, UNDP Kenya invites contributions for a special edition focusing on the transformative role of youth in shaping Kenya’s inclusive and sustainable development. The aim is to document success stories, best practices, lessons learned, and innovative initiatives highlighting youth engagement in governance, climate action, and digital transformation.
Aligned with the IYD 2025 theme, Empowering Youth: Building a Resilient Future, the compendium will serve as a repository of knowledge and inspiration for advancing Kenya’s development agenda through youth empowerment.
Scope of Submissions
See how our integrated signature solutions – powered by digitalization, innovation and development financing – are accelerating impact and scale in Lebanon
We are seeking evidence-based articles that address the following thematic areas:
- Youth leadership in governance and decentralized decision-making processes.
- Contributions of young people to climate resilience and environmental sustainability.
- Innovations and digital transformations driven by Kenyan youth.
- Strategies for enhancing youth engagement in peacebuilding and social justice initiatives.
- Policies and frameworks supporting the realization of Kenya’s demographic dividend.
Guidelines for Submission
- Languages: Papers may be submitted in English.
- Word Count: Submissions should not exceed 1,500 words.
- Format: Manuscripts should be written in clear, professional language and adhere to APA citation standards.
- Multimedia: Authors are encouraged to include original photographs, charts, or illustrations to enhance their articles. These must be either original works or sourced under a Creative Commons license.
- Author Details: Submissions must include the author’s full name, contact details, organization affiliation, and job title, if applicable.
Submission Process
Manuscripts should be submitted via email to communication.ke@undp.org with the subject line 'Youth Engagement Submission.'
Authors are encouraged to attach a brief bio (maximum 100 words) alongside their submissions.
Publication and Distribution
The finalized edition will be disseminated widely, including to policymakers, academic institutions, youth organizations, and development partners. It will also be available online to ensure broader access and engagement.
