With the current absence of medical treatment and vaccinations , the unfolding corona virus pandemic can only be brought under control by massive and rapid individual behavior change, such as handwashing, decreasing face touching, physical distancing and public spirited behavior. However, decades of research in fields such as Psychology and behavioral economics have shown that individuals are not always rational but instead use mental short cuts which affect how the perceived cost of the pandemic. This policy brief argues that in order to prepare the Kenyan population most effectively to help contain the corona virus pandemic, and reduce its widespread, behavioral insights should be integrated into the Kenya’s Public health response
