The Youth Sounding Board
Established in 2020, the Youth Sounding Board (YSB) is reflects UNDP’s offer on youth mainstreaming and inclusion of youth in decision-making. The YSB is a product of consultations between UNDP and the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and The Arts.
Our value proposition is to deepen youth mainstreaming within UNDP programmes and, through advocacy efforts, influence the broader national landscape. The YSB has made significant contributions through various initiatives that encompass both policy and programming realms.

Nadia Ahmed (YSB Co-Chair)
Nadia Ahmed Abdalla served as Chief Administrative Secretary Ministry of ICT, State Department of Innovation and Youth Affairs. She has a Bachelors (Hons.) in Public Relations and Mass Communication from Taylors University Lakeside Campus, Malaysia and a Masters in Arts International Relations and Cultural Diplomacy from Hochshule Furtwangler University, Germany. She is extremely passionate about the providing opportunities for the Youth to better themselves, make a decent living with available resources.
Lillian Njoro (YSB Co-Chair)
Lillian is a process/chemical engineer with a Master of Science Degree in Advanced Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester. Her research on molecular properties of hydrocarbons resulted in filling a knowledge gap in the petroleum refining industry. She has a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Chemical Engineering from the same university.
Raphael Mutitu (YSB Co-Chair)
Raphael is a passionate geospatial engineer with over five years’ experience in Geographic Information Systems and project management. One of his most exciting roles was supporting the implementation of the Building Resilience through Youth Skills Development Project, where select youth from Turkana, Refugees from Kakuma and Young Women benefitted from a 21st Century Automotive skills Training at Toyota Kenya Academy. He has also participated and exceled in various young innovators competitions in Kenya which include Lions of Science Kenya and University of Nairobi C4D_Lab Design Thinking Challenge. Additionally, Raphael is a graduate member of the Institution of Surveyors Kenya and also is a certified Drone for Humanitarian Action expert
Caren Wakoli (YSB Member)
Caren Wakoli is the Founder and Executive Director of Emerging Leaders Foundation (ELF); an organization that nurtures the next generation ethical leaders for Africa’s transformation. She is a Certified leadership coach, transformational leadership trainer and social entrepreneur who delights in mentoring young women and men to be able to achieve their greatest potential in life.
Roy Sasaka Telewa (YSB Member)
Roy Sasaka Telewa is the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Council (NYC) Kenya. National Youth Council is an advisory, research and policy institution on youth affairs in the country. This is a corporate body, primarily designed to be the official voice of the youth in Kenya. Since joining the NYC, Sasaka has overseen the transformation of the State Corporation into a vibrant organization that builds and enhances capacity of Kenyan Youth through strategic consultations, engagements and partnerships.
Ngatia Muhoya (YSB Member)
Ngatia Muhoya is a passionate young Kenyan who runs a social enterprise called Millennials Speak - a Millennials Consultancy that bridges the gap between decision makers and young people by providing digital governance solutions. He is passionate about good leadership and entrepreneurship, which has led him to participate in various international and local platforms of solution driven dialogue. Muhoya also represents fellow youth as a board member at the KEPSA Youth and Gender Board where he leads the Youth Engagement and Entrepreneurship subsector.
Mary Thiong'o (YSB Member)
Mary Thiong’o is a youth and women empowerment specialist currently working with United Nations Department of Operational Support. Her objective is to empower young people and women through facilitating the creation of business opportunities and decent employment along priority agricultural value chains and other employment creation sectors.
Ayub Duale (YSB Member)
Ayub has experience working in the international agencies and governmental agencies addressing public health challenges in Africa, in areas of outbreak response, immunizations, water and sanitation hygiene and social and behaviour change communications in Kenya. One of his most exciting roles was as a C4D Officer at UNICEF where he was working on an innovative work plan to improve Young UNICEF staff members voice and participation in UNICEF Country Programme Implementation.
Ashura Michael (YSB Member)
Ashura Michael is a young deaf human rights and Gender advocate in Kenya. She was recently named as the most influential young Kenyan 2019 under the leadership and governance category, top 15 Kenyan women blazing trail of the corporate suite 2020 (Law and Policy) by Daily Nation, and Kenyan advocacy personal of the year 2020.
Daisy Chebet (YSB Member)
Daisy is passionate about Gender Equality and empowerment of all women and girls and believes in the integral role it plays in efforts to attain peaceful and prosperous societies. She is a solution oriented professional with a wide practical experience in communication, Gender mainstreaming and youth development. She holds an undergraduate degree in Communication and Public relations and is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Gender and Development at St. Paul’s University. She is currently the program officer in Charge of Gender and Youth at the Council of Governors. She has been pivotal in facilitation and monitoring of Gender and youth mainstreaming activities in the Council of Governors’ committees as well as in the counties. She has participated the in development, review and monitoring of policies, laws, regulations, strategies and guidelines related to the Gender Equality and Youth development both at the County and National levels. Daisy actively participated in the planning of the 7th Annual and Final Devolution conference where she led the planning and execution of the youth break- away session during the conference.
Wanjũhĩ Njoroge (YSB Member)
Wanjũhĩ Njoroge is the founder the Founder of People Planet Africa, an Enterprise involved in people centred Forest Protection & Restoration, Sustainability and Inclusive Development that incorporates rural communities which constitute 70% of Africa’s population. She has gained extensive experience working with rural communities and assisting government agencies and organizations incorporate sustainability into their businesses thus increasing their positive impact and profit.
Felix Munyao (YSB Member)
Felix serves the informal Jua Kali and the Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) sector in various capacities. He is currently both the youth lead at the Kenya National Federation of Jua Kali Associations (KNFJKA) as well as the Chair of the Gig Economy (#Gig Kali) sub-sector that brings together digital and ICT-enabled enterprises that are affiliated to the Federation.
Mutava Kelvin (YSB Member)
Mutava Kelvin is the Chairperson of the Student governing Council of Maasai Mara University Student Association. He is a revolutionary who believes in Optimism and humanity. Once given an opportunity he believes he can make even the most destitute of life afford a genuine smile. He believes in youth empowerment and leadership.
Tadicha Jillo Hussein (YSB Member)
Tadicha is a member of World Global Shapers where he sits in the advisory committee for the dream projects under World University Services of Canada. Together with other youth, Tadicha has started a community-based organization named Urise Initiative for Africa which trains youth on digital skills specifically ICT entrepreneurship to create self-reliance.
John Mwangi Munyiri (YSB Member)
John Mwangi Munyiri is currently handling Grants, Fundraising, Partnerships and Government Relations at the Media Council of Kenya. He has served in the Ministry of Youth Affairs where he coordinated youth development projects. Additionally, he worked with Youth with a Mission, an international Christian organisation, where he championed moral development programs.
Nerima Wako-Ojiwa (YSB Member)
Nerima Wako-Ojiwa is a Kenyan political analyst, who serves as the executive director of Siasa Place, an organization, led by young people that engages young Kenyans, educating them about the constitution, governance and electoral processes, through community engagements and social media.
