UNDP donates IT equipment to the Emergency Management Agency to enhance their services during the pandemic

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo, in immediate response to COVID-19 and in line with our mandate to eradicate poverty and reduce inequalities, provided today 25 Tablets to the Emergency Management Agency. The equipment will allow the EMA response teams such as Local Operation Centers to continue their work more effectively by enabling improved coordination, real time communication and data exchange.

Mr. Fadil Kodra, Head of the Emergency Management Agency, Ms. Valbona Bogujevci, UNDP Assistant Resident Representative and Programme Coordinator, and UNDP officials were present at the handover which took place at the Emergency Management Agency premises.

IT communication solutions tools will enable officials to work uninterrupted even from home, facilitate communication with clients thus improving the quality and timeline of delivery of services.

While accepting the donation, Mr. Kodra emphasized: “On behalf of the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Public Administration (MIAPA), I would like to express the gratitude and our appreciation for UNDP’s donation of 25 tablets which will facilitate Emergency Operations Centers’ 112 communication and coordination of activities with local institutions and other organizations involved in the management of the COVID 19 pandemic. UNDP’s cooperation and support to AME is of particular importance, therefore, together we will continue to deepen and advance our partnership towards future achievements”.

Particularly improving the coordination and communication on real time of the front-line respondents such as Local Operative Centers 24/7, Municipal Research and Rescue Committees, to effectively manage to protect peoples live”, said Ms. Bogujevci.

We have rapidly shifted focus, responding swiftly and efficiently and reorienting our programme to assist Kosovo’s efforts to stop the spread of the virus, helping to protect people from the pandemic and its impacts, respond during the outbreak, and recover from the economic and social impacts in the months to come.
