Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic Marat Imankulov stressed the broader implications of arms control:

"Small arms control is not only a national priority but also an international obligation. Kyrgyzstan is actively implementing global commitments, such as the UN Programme of Action to Prevent the Illicit Trade in Small Arms, and adopting best international practices. The media play a crucial role in bridging society and government, helping to identify issues and propose solutions."

Speaking at the seminar, Alexandra Solovieva, UNDP Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic, emphasized the workshop's significance:

"This seminar serves as a unique platform for dialogue and coordination, bringing together key government and media representatives. Collaborative efforts to enhance small arms control mechanisms are vital for fostering greater security in society."

She also underlined the critical role of journalists in raising public awareness about the issue of illicit arms trafficking: "Professional and objective reporting on this subject promotes a culture of security and trust, while mobilizing both civil society and state institutions to address these challenges."
