What is the project about?
This project strengthens the technical and institutional capacity of Lao PDR to ensure climate change issues are highlighted in both sectoral and national development priorities, including the 7th National Socio -Economic Development Plan.
The project also enables the country to prepare and submit its second national communication to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and meet its Convention obligations.
What have we accomplished so far?
- Produced an updated national greenhouse gas inventory.
- Conducted training on climate change adaptation and mitigation to relevant insitutions.
- Climate change issues were considered at all stages of the development of the 7th National Socio-Economic Development Plan, 2011 - 2015.
- Updated and finalized Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation options .
- The final report was approved by the government in early 2013 and the final report is being submitted to UNFCCC.
