Strengthening the Role of Women and Youth in the Integrated Water Resource Management at the Community Level of Yefren

October 20, 2024

In Libya's Jebel Nafusa region, communities are among those most impacted by climate change. They face desertification and increasing water scarcity; the instability of water availability and quality and the reduction in well capacity are leading to disputes and the destruction of water infrastructure.

UNDP is seeking a partner from civil society as a responsible party to collaborate in facilitating community engagement, conducting analyses, and promoting inclusive participation in water management processes. It will help ensure the project’s goals, particularly those related to women's and youth empowerment, which the Government of Denmark funds through UNDP’s Governance, Peacebuilding, Crisis and Resilience Funding Window.

Eligibility and qualification criteria

The applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Libyan non-governmental organizations, research or academic institutions, or non-profit organizations (for international organizations, we encourage partnership with local organizations, ensure local organizations have active involvement in the implementation process, and maximize knowledge transfer) registered and operating in Libya for at least three (3) years.

  • Proven capacity to conduct public surveys and public knowledge awareness initiatives in Libya.

  • At least three (3) years of proven experience in water, climate change or environmental field projects in the local geographical areas of Libya, within the last six (6) years.

  • Availability of human resources that will ensure due quality and timely implementation of the contract.

Budget size and Duration:

The overall indicative grant pool amount made available under this Call for Proposal is US$100,000 (one hundred thousand US dollars); the project will be taking place over a period of 6 months.
