Call for Proposals from NGOs/CBOs - The GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP)

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) is a corporate programme of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) since 1992. The GEF SGP is announcing two calls for proposals from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and community-based organizations (CBOs) to apply for grant funding opportunities.

Call One: The GEF Small Grants Programme Operational Phase 7, Round 2

Focal Areas:

The SGP aims to deliver global environmental benefits through community-based approaches in the following multifocal “strategic initiatives”: focal areas 1. Biodiversity 2. Climate Change 3. Land Degradation 4. International Waters 5. Persistent Organic Pollutants.

Who can apply?

Civil society organizations (CSOs) with priority for national and local non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community-based organizations (CBOs) and scientific communities, advocating for the rights of persons with disability, women, and children.

How much?

The maximum grant amount obtainable per project is US$ 30,000

However, in exceptional cases US$ 50,000 may be considered

Project duration

Maximum duration is 24 months.

Call Two: COVID-19 support to territories and areas conserved by indigenous peoples and local communities (ICCAs) in Maldives

In alignment with the SGP Country Programme Strategy (CPS) in Maldives for the SGP 7^th Operational Phase (OP7) running from 2020-2024 and relevant National COVID-19 Response and Recovery Plan, applications from qualified organisations are invited to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. National and local civil society organisations (including community-based organisations, NGOs, and Indigenous Peoples organisations) are encouraged to apply .

Deadline: 11^th December 2021, Saturday 00:00 Hrs.

Please note that each NGO can submit only one proposal for this call.
