9. Fostering Equal Societies

UNDP has actively promoted gender equality in the Maldives, successfully advocating for a 33 percent quota in local councils after amending the Decentralization Act in December 2019, significantly increasing women's representation, to championing gender equality and women’s empowerment initiatives till today.
