Locations‘188 Better Islands’ webinar for Maldivian Local Island Councils Held

A webinar for local island council members under the ‘188 Better Islands’ project was held at the Marine Research and Higher Education Center (MaRHE Center) in Faafu Atoll Magoodhoo Island. The webinar was held between 3-5 June and 74 local council members joined virtually from all over the country, as well as 12 physical participants from 5 islands of Faafu Atoll.
The webinar contributes to the building of a more resilient, sustainable and inclusive Maldivian society. It will assist Maldivian Island Councils in planning for disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation and mitigation, sustainable growth and preserving natural wealth of islands by enhancing economic growth, food security, well-being and #GenderEquality.
Webinar for Maldivian Local Island Councils is conducted by University of Bicocca-Milano and University of Dubai with support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Maldives and the Joint SDG Fund under the platform of cooperation signed between UNDP, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of Maldives, Maldivian Red Crescent with University of Milano-Bicocca and University of Dubai in 2022, to support disaster preparedness and climate action.
