
Badhahi Film Series is back with a fresh season of short films created and directed by youth filmmakers. This time, the films are showcasing the importance of gender equality, youth empowerment, accessibility and inclusion.
The premiere screening was held at Schwack Cinema and was attended by Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services H.E. Aishath Mohamed Didi, Ambassador of Japan H.E. Takeuchi Midori, UNDP Maldives Resident Representative Enrico Gaveglia and participants of the film series.

Speaking at the Badhahi Film Series premiere, UNDP Maldives Resident Representative Enrico Gaveglia highlighted the crucial role played by youth as agents of change and progress in our community.

“I look forward to these stories because stories make our life. Stories are what is real. It transcends things we do in our lives every day like paperwork. What we are going to see through the films today is reality.” said H.E. Aishath Mohamed Didi while giving her remarks at the premiere event.

Speaking at the premiere, Ambassador of Japan to Maldives H.E. Takeuchi Midori reiterated that the Japanese government would continue to work with the Maldives to strengthen communities and increase social cohesion, promoting inclusion, resilience, and prosperity among all.

The youth participants of Badhahi Film Series had a training component and a post-production component with lead trainer Hussain Yamin, and have created strong advocacy products for social issues that the younger generation faces in society.
