November 15, 2023
In a momentous stride toward modernizing judicial processes and facilitating citizen services, the Judicial Administration of the Maldives, in collaboration with the Department of Judicial Administration, UNDP Maldives, with the generous support of the UK Government with UK Aid from the British People, recently unveiled the Marriage Portal—a groundbreaking addition to the Integrated Court Management System (ICMS) project. This initiative, marks a significant leap forward in the realm of digital connectivity within the Maldivian judicial system.
Launched at a ceremony overseen by Chief Justice Muthasim Adnan, the Marriage Portal is poised to redefine the submission process for marriage-related forms. Chief Judicial Administrator Aishath Rizna, speaking at the portal's inauguration, emphasized its potential impact by revealing that a substantial 60% of the forms currently submitted to the courts pertain to marriage matters.
This innovative online portal represents a collaborative effort aimed at streamlining and digitizing administrative processes within the judicial system. The Marriage Portal, operating under the ICMS project, seeks to connect and harmonize courts digitally, thereby enhancing access to justice and fortifying the rule of law in the Maldives.
During the initial phase, the portal will exclusively handle marriage-related forms submitted to Magistrate Courts, with ambitious plans to incorporate Family Court forms in the near future. This strategic approach aligns with the broader vision of creating an integrated and efficient digital ecosystem within the judiciary.
The launch ceremony, underscores the collective commitment to modernize and simplify procedures related to marriage within the judicial system. The Marriage Portal is set to expedite processes, reduce paperwork, and bring about greater efficiency in handling legal matters associated with marriage.
The introduction of this innovative portal is a testament to the dedication of the Maldivian judiciary to leverage technology for the betterment of its services.
