Together with UNDP in Asia and the Pacific and Climate Finance Network of UNDP, UNDP Maldives conducted a webinar on Financing Blue SMEs, with sessions by SME Development Finance Corporation of the Maldives on overview of the Blue Economy, Ocean Assets on Investment in Sustainable Blue SMEs in the Asia-Pacific region and Horizon Fisheries Private Limited on the challenges faced as an SME in the sector.
Key take aways from the webinar were the need to create bankable transaction with private investors to finance Blue SME initiatives, creating enablers for private investments through de-risking, Environmental Social Governance safeguards and standards and having a holistic approach to blue economy.
